This is a much anticipated dance for all those who remember the lads playing at the Retreat Hotel back in the early 90's. Now living and working in Greece they are touring Australia again after a 3 year hiatus. The band are keen to see all their old friends and win over a new generation of fans with their mixture of Rebetika, Dimotika, Smyrnaika, Nisiotika etc, all played with energy and sensitivity. Apodimi formed in Melbourne days in the late 1980's at Melb. Uni. They have since won acclaim world wide at International festivals and with their recordings. They continue to wow audiences with their fresh approach to traditional music. Three Australian born members George Galiatsos (guitar, lute and vocals), Manoli Galiatsos (Bouzouki, Banjo) and Hector Cosmas (violin, baglama) are joined by one of Greece's great vocal talents, Giannis Niarhos (vocals, bouzouki, mandolin) and the enchanting and vibrant singer Maria Deikta. We are also hoping to have local phenom Paddy Montgomery joining us on the night playing Outi and politiki lyra.
